Ma’s story:
Ma’s past relationship wasn’t just painful—it had suffocated her. She had entered a romantic relationship full of hope, believing she had found a true soul partner. But over time, reality set in. Her partner exerted control in subtle but insidious ways. At first, it was small criticisms, tiny dismissals of her feelings, comments that made her doubt herself. Then, financial control crept in. “I was earning money, but I wasn’t allowed to decide how to spend it,” she recalls. Over time, Ma lost so much of herself that even choosing between a blue or white jumper became overwhelming. She stopped trusting her own preferences and her own decisions.
Leaving the relationship took everything she had. The emotional toll was immense, but for the sake of her son, she fought to rebuild their lives. Yet, despite all her resilience, she had never truly healed from the experience. Every time she thought about dating again, fear gripped her. “What if I end up in the same situation? What if I don’t see the signs?” she worried.
She wanted love, but she feared herself. She feared her own judgment.
Background
Fourteen years ago, Ma’s life was upended. Her partner walked away, leaving her alone with their 11-year-old son. Overnight, she became the sole provider, the sole provider and pillar of strength for her child. She threw herself into work, ensuring their survival, but in doing so, she abandoned herself. Love, personal joy, and self-care became distant memories.
Now, with her son grown and starting his own life, Ma feels a gnawing emptiness inside. She craves connection but is terrified of making the same mistakes. “I don’t trust myself,” she confesses. “What if I choose wrong again?” She has spent years convincing herself that solitude was safer than vulnerability, but deep down, she knows she wants more.
The Coaching Process
Through meditation coaching, Ma embarked on a journey to rediscover the inner wisdom she had silenced for years.
- Grounding Practice – The first step was helping Ma reconnect with her body. “Breathe in deeply,” I guided. “Feel the ground beneath you. You are safe.” At first, she struggled. Her breath was shallow, her body tense. But as she continued, something shifted. “I feel… more present,” she murmured. It was the first time in years she had allowed herself to simply be.
- Recognizing Red Flags – In one session, I asked Ma to recall the first time she had felt something was wrong in her past relationship. Her breath hitched. “It was about ten months in,” she whispered. “He dismissed something I cared about, made me feel silly for bringing it up.” I asked what her instinct had told her then. “To leave,” she admitted. But she hadn’t. That moment of realization struck deep—she had known, all along.
- Reclaiming Lost Parts – I led her through a visualization exercise, inviting her to imagine the pieces of herself she had abandoned. She saw them as golden fragments, scattered but waiting to return. As she breathed deeply, she envisioned calling them back home. Tears streamed down her face. “I forgot who I was,” she whispered. “But I’m still here.”
- Setting Intentions – “What do you want in your next relationship?” I asked. For the first time, Ma spoke not from fear, but from hope. “Joy. Support. Laughter. A relationship where I feel free to be myself.” By saying it aloud, she planted a seed of possibility within herself.
- Opening to Receive – The final step was believing she was worthy of love. “Can you allow yourself to receive these things?” I asked. She hesitated, then slowly nodded. “Yes,” she whispered. “Yes, I think I can.” It was a profound shift—where Ma moved from self-doubt to self-belief.
Results & Transformation
Through meditation coaching, Ma unearthed her strength, her intuition, and her power. The past no longer dictated her future. She embraced a daily practice of:
- Noticing resistance – When fear arose, she met it with curiosity instead of avoidance.
- Reaffirming her power – She reminded herself that she had the ability to choose relationships that nurtured rather than drained her.
- Trusting her intuition – By reconnecting with her inner wisdom, she realized she had always known what was right for her.
Ongoing Transformation
Weeks later, Ma reflected on the deeper layers of healing that continued to unfold. She realized that she had long denied her need for love by becoming strong and independent. This idea protected her from being vulnerable again. Through meditation coaching, she saw how her abandoned inner child had taken over, seeking love from a man who mirrored her mother’s emotional distance.
After the session, Ma allowed herself to fully process the pain of her younger self, experiencing a profound shift toward wholeness and balance. She now sees love not as a risk for hurt, but as an opportunity to deepen her connection with herself. With newfound confidence and clarity, she is stepping into a new chapter—one grounded in trust, self-worth, and emotional freedom.
